Born in Tunis, Tunisia, Oumayma relocated to Montreal, Canada, at the age of ten, where photography quickly became a means of creative expression and forming new friendships.
Her work remains instinctual and intimate but with a progressive editorial edge that allows her to balance personal and commercial work. Frequently ‘Ouma’ photographs subjects that do not conform to conventional beauty ideals. Meanwhile, her signature soft palette creates elemental atmosphere and closeness with the subject for a series of textural, realist images.
